Pigeons take flight, Trafalgar Square, London, 5 January 1987

Thousands of pigeons take flight in Trafalgar Square in a scene reminiscent of Hitchcock’s The Birds. This used to be a familiar scene but the birdseed peddlers were banished in 2001 and feeding them became illegal two years later, and the huge swarms of pigeons vanished.
