Crying Boy, Trafalgar Square, 12 July, 1988
In the 1980’s, thousands of pigeons made their home in Trafalgar Square, and vendors sold birdseed for the tourists to feed them. After this young boy’s parents gave him a cup of birdseed, the pigeons descended and, naturally, the boy was scared to death of the flying rodents flocking to him. Thankfully, the birdseed vendors have long gone and only the odd stray pigeon is seen here or there now.
