Four Angels, Kensal Green Cemetery, London, 9 August 2000
I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve visited Kensal Green Cemetery in London, the most recent being in February 2019. For me, it’s one of the most beautiful cemeteries in Britain, and contains many unusual stone monuments, including a sphinx, full size lion and more. I’ve often photographed this Victorian gathering of angels on top of a plinth. This time, in the summer of 2000, I used Kodak High Speed infrared film, which gives the images an ethereal, grainy glow.
