Kilcash Castle, County Tipperary, Ireland, 17 August 2000

Kilcash Castle has recently undergone much needed maintenance work to stabilize it and prevent it from falling to the ground. But in the summer of 2000, it was very overgrown and in a state of decay. I’ve never been so excited as a climbed the spiral steps winding their way up the tower, to this view out from the open roof. I brought two cameras up with me, using two different film stocks, but this image was made with infrared film.
