Winter Walk, Shottesbrooke Park, Berkshire, 7 January 1990
This quiet avenue of trees is about fifteen miles away from where I grew up in Surrey. In 1998 I contracted with a poster company to license a panoramic version of this image; over the years, hundreds of posters were produced and sold. In 1967, a scene from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was filmed here, with the car driving down the avenue of trees. On this quiet winter’s day at the start of a new decade, a low mist hung over the fields as my sister and a friend walked the quiet track.
